22/03/2024 - Vocal n° 66 - 41:55 : Cold case - Detach yourself from the history of hunting, and remain neutral and objective

(Q - Zen: I wanted to know, Michel, you said that a person who is on site, if they have everything sorted out, if they have everything in hand, they can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to find, but a person who is at home, can it take more or less time?)

MB: Once again, I like this expression because it alone sums up the scope of the debate. I'm talking about the expression "cold case". The problem is that on a “normal” approach, we participate in the game, we go there, we are confronted with the thing. What I said is completely consistent with the time needed, the time it can take, etc. Afterwards, over the 31 years that have passed, there has once again been so much information, pressure, currents of ideas, trends, that very, very few participants are today in a position of strict neutrality which allows them to approach the solution with maximum objectivity.
In other words, the old people are conditioned by lots of things. The new ones, they are conditioned by the fact of not being conditioned. They say, I don't want to take that into account, I don't take that into account. Which can also sometimes be a little dangerous. It is very, very difficult today to face the latest enigmas with absolute objectivity.
And I'll tell you, when I read the riddles, when I was confronted with these last solutions, it took me a little time to say to myself, well, ok, that's it, that's really it. I was not prepared for that, because I was myself, through my repeated interventions for 15 years, 15 years, 20 years, etc. with the Chouetteurs, sometimes heated debates, procedures and everything, I had already been conditioned in the end. Because I got wind of certain theories, I had heard things, I had no idea where it was, but I was, in spite of myself, I was already imbued with a certain number of words, theories and convictions.
And so when I had the solutions in hand, it took me a little while. I'm not saying that I spent eight days there, but it took me a little while to get used to that idea, to say to myself, oh well, well yes, those are the solutions, we have to that I accept it, that’s how it is. And I believe that today, there are very, very few players who, when they arrive at this stage, are capable of sorting it out in a calm and objective manner by saying, well, I'll remember that, I remember that, I remember that, I remember that, so, there you go. So from there it may take a little longer.
