21/03/2022 - Enregistrement 18 - 1:30:44 44: English translation of the puzzles

(Q - ??: could you tell us the translation projects are progressing and if there is a deadline that you have already set for yourself or if it is really some kind of project? )

MB : the translation is not really the problem, currently there are a few elements of the book that I still have discussions about in relation to everything that happens around the story of the owl but once it will have been completely validated.
Afterwards we go through a translation process which personally does not pose any particular problem for me.

(Q - ??: the goal is that it will then come out in the form of a book in England or the United States, right?)

MB : yes Australia, New Zealand, yeah of course.

(Q - ??: do you think there will be any interest for a French person to work when it comes out on the English versions, just to find a sort of freshness or to see things, a sort of linguistic decentring which could be useful or not at all...)

MB : it could be interesting to see how they work because indeed they will have a much fresher, more neutral mind, they will perhaps seek fewer complications, that could be interesting yes)

(Q - ??: do you find that we have radically different ways of thinking?)

MB : that's not new, between English and French anyway...
On some sites that I saw on the Chouette d'Or in English, the language barrier doesn't really exist, they get everything, the puns, the tips, whatever, they are able to understand everything , they're not stupider than us, eh.

(Q - ??: so it's an Englishman who will find our owl...)

MB : between us, it could happen...

(Q - ??: the English translation poses no problem?)
(Q: ??: in any case the English who are going to get involved in this, they will also come and go with the French, people are not in bubbles...)
(Q - ??: that's not what I meant, I wanted to talk about a specific method of decryption in the puzzles, perhaps the Super Solution, with letters to point to, a little pu like in Masquerade where you have to align your eyes with your fingers...)

MB : I think that this risk of distinguishing them from French speakers, it's more concentration on the objective, less digressions with crazy ideas, come on, let me summarize, it's not always crazy in the literal sense of the term but less discoveries, less inventiveness can perhaps give more results.

(Q - ??: you have to be a little tougher...)
(Q - Gringos: that excludes all the puns, which scares me... how can an English person understand "take the tangent", the expression to flee, if it is not written in the translation, this also means ...)

MB : English, he will have access to the texts in French, he can translate them...

(Q - ??: all the available English translations of the owl, on all the English forums, all that, stuff like "take the tangent" they absolutely know and they have the translation of all meanings, of absolutely all words.)
