08/01/2023 - Enregistrement n° 50 - part 2 - 01:40:20: Hunting - Excessive comments compared to "Find from your chair"

(Q - Pharaoh: from his armchair; can it be found from his armchair?)

MB: so being able to find it from his chair, I think that in 1993, quite honestly, it wouldn’t have really been; obvious, obvious to find from your chair. In theory, we can say yes but I think that Max Valentin's comments at the time were still excessive.

(Q - Pharaon: Is it more obvious on site? In fact, on site we really have everything available whereas from our armchair we can have certain elements but it is complicated to have all the elements to do this pirate trick.)

MB: so complicated is not the term, difficult and more appropriate. It's difficult to have all the elements but we can have them. That said, you know, I'll tell you something: whether it's a house, or meeting someone, when you go through the Internet, you see photos, you say “bha I'm looking for a house” I see this house, this living space, I see the super cool photos, then I go there and then all of a sudden, once I arrive there, it's not exactly what I thought. I go to a dating site, I click, whatever, profile all that, we're meant to get along, very well, ok, I see the photo, I'm completely pissed, she's the woman of my life, it's he's the man of my life, whatever you want, then we meet and then all of a sudden, the voice, the smell, the look, I don't know anything, makes it not match any more, it's not the same at all.
Well, for hunting, it’s still like that. That is to say, at the moment when I had the solutions in hand, when I said, well yeah, I read, there it is, it's in such and such a place exactly there, TAC TAC TAC, this is how we done, etc… And then, when I got there, I said to myself, “Oh my god.” I didn't imagine it like that at all. And really this notion remains. So yes, we can perfectly design, especially for people who know the puzzles well, who are, who have spent time, who are experienced and who have a good command of the subject. Yeah, we can perfectly comfort ourselves, find, say yes, force a certainty on ourselves without moving.
But the real certainty is when we arrive there and we say to ourselves, there you go, there I am, and it's necessarily a little bit more, it's a little different, it's a little a little more complicated when you're on site because it's less theoretical. Indeed, you have to take action, you have to take the appropriate actions, find the problem, dig, so it’s not quite the same. But clearly, I think that in 1993, honestly, it would have been impossible to form absolute certainty from the depths of one's armchair, I think that today we... yeah, potentially, we can get there, practically at 95%, you have to go there.

(Q - Nabil: so, the latest landmarks are in photos on the Internet?)

MB: yes, well the internet gives such precise information on so many things of course.

(Q - Nabil: everything is in photos, the last references, everything? Do we have everything we need?)

MB: we are already on the theme of photography, we are going too far, I am not answering.

( Q - Nabil: ah I don't know, you took the example of the photo, if we are sure at this point it is because we visualize everything on the internet down to the last marks. )

MB: I took the example and I’ll stop there. I will not answer any additional questions.
